Fitting a Bravado Bra
How to Fit a Bravado Nursing Bra
- Don’t rush into it!
If you can, wait until close to your due date, ideally 37 or 38 weeks before you buy a nursing bra. The nursing bra size may be very different to the maternity bra size because you will need to allow 1/2 to 1 cup size extra for when your milk arrives (2-3 days after the birth) and also the band size will need to adjust to a tighter fitting as your ribcage slowly returns to normal size. Nothing replaces a proper nursing fitting, but as experienced fitters are rare (even in lingerie shops) here’s our quick checklist
- Think of your comfort first
Choose your first nursing bra for comfort, not for style! In the first few weeks you’ll be glad you did.
- Move over Dolly Parton….
Once your baby is born your cup size will GET BIGGER, and not only is it a big shock, it can also be very uncomfortable. Choosing a bra made with lycra or other stretch fabric will help with the day to day changes in your bust size at this point. You won’t always be this size, and you should find your size settles down within a few weeks.
Once you establish a nursing routine and your breast adjust to the new demands you can think about the more stylish designs – we wouldn’t recommend you buy an underwire nursing bra until 4- 6 weeks after your baby is born.
- You’ll finally start to shrink!
Get a nursing bra with a stretchy band and fit it quite snugly OR one that allows you to TIGHTEN the band – you ribcage will start to shrink once your baby engages and even more once it’s born
